PARTNER VISA
Love has no boundaries, and the solution you have is an Australian Visa.
We believe the first thing that comes to your mind is preparing a visa application – a procedure that you have no clue how it goes.
What visa options do the Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens have if they want to bring their partner to live with them in Australia?
Do you need to put a ring on it, before you decide to go to Aussie-land?
Let’s start with the option for Prospective Marriage (Subclass 300) visa. This visa option is suitable if you are not married, but intend to marry before the visa period ends. The applicant must be outside Australia in the time when the application is submitted and when the Department of Home Affairs decides on your visa application. If your visa is granted, you can travel, study and work in Australia for up to 9 months, starting from the date the visa is being granted.
To be granted a Partner Visa, you need to be the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen. The process of obtaining a Partner Visa goes in two stages. Initially, you will receive a Temporary Partner Visa (subclass 820). Two years of your patience is necessary to be eligible for the second stage and that is :
Permanent Partner Visas (subclass 801), of course providing supporting documents as evidence for a genuine and continuing relationship with your partner.
On-line love story?
Both types of visas are for those applicants who are inside Australia while applying for this visa and they must stay in Australia until the decision is made.
Unlike, the applicants for a Partner visa (subclass 309 and 100), should be outside Australia when applying and when the visa is granted.
You can easily calculate the visa fee using the Visa pricing estimator on the website of the Department of Home Affairs.
If your love story started online, purely for fun and curiosity and you never even planned to get that far, you should start making plans to meet in person, given that you will need to prove that two of you have met face-to-face as adults, after the age of 18 and know each other personally.
Providing details and evidence of your indisputably genuine relationship, includes few aspects, such as:
– social aspects of the relationship
– financial aspects of the relationship
– nature of the household
– nature of the commitment the applicant and the sponsor have to each other
And, let’s launch the process – preparing documents, application forms with tones of questions to be answered before the application is submitted. From the moment of submitting the application, patience is a necessitate. Take a deep breath and wait for a few months, a year or even more, for the decision of the Department of Home Affairs.
Processing time varies and depends on the type of visa you applied, your circumstances and whether you have provided all the necessary information and documents.
Maybe you don’t have power over the processing time required for this type of visas, but what is up to you, give your best from the start, to make available as much as possible details relevant for your application. This can save time. And nerves.
